Skilled Migration Changes from 1 July 2010

Effective from 1 July 2010 the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) has introduced the use of Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) in place of the Australian Standard Classification of Occupations (ASCO) for skills assessment purposes. Management Skills Assessment for Skilled Migration

For migration to Australia, there are established criteria for the level of qualifications, training and work experience required for a senior-level manager.

The Australian Institute of Management (AIM) is the approved professional assessing authority for persons seeking to apply for Skilled Migration as Senior Managers, with the following Australian and New Zealand Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO) codes, effective 1 July 2010:

For General Skilled Migration skills assessment:

• Engineering Manager [133211] (Engineering Manager 1221-11)

For Employer Nomination, and State or Territory Nomination:

• Corporate General Manager [111211] (General Manager 1112-11)
• Sales and Marketing Manager [131112] (Sales and Marketing Manager 1231-11)
• Human Resource Manager [132311] (Human Resource Manager 1213-11)
• Engineering Manager [133211] (Engineering Manager 1221-11)
• Supply and Distribution Manager [133611] (Supply and Distribution Manager 1223-11)

Note: previous equivalent ASCO code is denoted in brackets ().

Steps for Submitting a Management Skills Assessment Application

1. Read the Criteria for a Manager for the Purpose of Migration for the above positions. If you believe you meet these criteria, please proceed to the next step.

Please note: The Criteria for a Manager for the Purpose of Migration was revised effective 1 July 2010.

2. Complete an Application for Management Skills Assessment [PDF; 124Kb] ensuring you provide all of the required personal details and supporting documentation. Take time to fully complete the form, as incomplete applications cannot be processed. A non-refundable application fee of AUD$360* (ex GST) is required upon submission.

3. Submit your application by following the instructions included in the document.
